Employment history: Hossein Hamzehee is currently the Regulatory Affairs Functional Area Manager, STARS Alliance. He is responsible for the coordination of nuclear regulatory activities of four STARS member stations. He was previously the Manager of Regulatory Services at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E).  He was responsible for compliance and licensing activities, and interactions with the NRC staff in the region and headquarters. He was also responsible for the probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) and risk-informed regulatory activities.

Hossein has near 40 years of experience in nuclear power plant design, engineering, operations, and regulatory oversight.  Prior to joining PG&E, Hossein worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) from 1998 to 2015. During that period, he served at various technical and managerial positions.  He was a Branch Chief in various NRC offices, including the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR), Office of New Reactors, and Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research. His last position at the NRC was the Chief of the PRA Licensing Branch in NRR.

Prior to joining the NRC, Hossein worked for two other nuclear utilities, including Texas Utilities and Northeast Utilities.

Post-secondary education: Hossein Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of California at Irvine, and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University at Long Beach. He is also a registered Professional Engineer.
